Checking your zero is a good start. Practicing shot placement on a life-size deer gives you a reason to keep shooting. Our full-size Whitetail Deer gives you a realistic broadside profile and a reactive vital gong you can hear ring when you hit it.
Whether you’re helping a new hunter learn where to aim or keeping your own skills sharp before deer season, it gives you a familiar shape to practice on.
Both versions have the same life-size shape, reactive vital, and American-made 3/8" SR500+ steel in the chest and vital area. The difference is how we build the rest of the deer.
Full SR500+: hardened target steel throughout.
The whole silhouette is made from 3/8" SR500+, from the antlers to the hooves. If a shot lands outside the chest or vital, it’s still hitting hardened target steel.
The downside is weight and cost. There’s a lot more target steel in this version, so it’s considerably heavier and more expensive. If you plan to leave your deer in one spot most of the time, that extra weight may not matter much to you.
SR500+ Hybrid: less weight and a lower price.
The Hybrid uses the same 3/8" SR500+ chest and reactive vital, with 14-gauge sheet metal for the head, haunch, and legs. You get the same life-size profile in a target that costs less and is easier to move.
The downside is that those sheet-metal sections aren’t hardened target steel. Bullet impacts can damage them, so this version is meant for keeping your shots on the chest and vital. Replacement sheet-metal sections are available if you need them.
Make it look like the real thing.
Both versions include a stencil for painting a realistic head and a heart stencil for the vital plate. Give your buck some character and yourself a spot to aim for.
Pick the mount that works for you.
A mount is not included, even if one is shown in the photos. Choose your preferred mount from the product add-ons, or use your own suitable setup. You’re buying the target without paying for a mount you may not need.

- Ships unpainted. Paint it for visibility or give it a realistic look.
- The blue sections in the Hybrid product images show which parts are sheet metal. The target doesn’t come painted blue.

Great life size target to get ready for deer season. I was using a life size targets from Deadnuts Outdoors for practice. I handgun hunt and shoot a lot of 44 magnum. By a lot I mean a couple hundred rounds a weekend. Even with replaceable vitals after 50 or so rounds there isn't much left. The upfront cost of a full size Atlas deer is 4X more but pays for itself in the long run. Super easy to put together and if you have a few fliers the head, haunch or leg sections are out of 14 gauge and inexpensive to replace. I painted mine to make it more realistic and having that gong ring lets you know you're hitting where you should be. I was on the fence about buying one for quite a while but should have bought one a long time ago.

This is great teaching tool for beginners, and an awsome cold bore ethical hunter challenge at 500yds

I’ve been ask for a review multiple times. Below is a pic of the target once I got it set up at a 100 yards. So far I like it. My grandchildren who’ve seen pics of it got extremely excited. It appears to be made excellent. As far as performance I can’t say only because I bought it for my grandchildren to practice on and since I set it up they haven’t been here to use it.

The target is one of the large size ones I could find. This is a well made target with heavy duty vitals. I plan to paint it to give some flair to my shooting range.
