You'll see similar mounts to this one all over the internet but what sets ours apart is the barbed AR500 hook. I can't overstate how important it is for a target mount to have as little contact with the target as possible to allow the target to ring and vibrate. Most of the competition uses a bolt with a spring for this type of a mount. It dampens the targets ring and has the weak point of a bolt that's much softer than your target. Let your targets ring!

I think I have five of these now. I can use my own steel at our private range so ease of transportation is important. These are the easiest, simplest way to transport, hang, and adjust your portable gongs. And Brad is correct. They ring much louder than bolt-in mounts. I also have the 2x4 protectors. Since I use the gongs for speed drills, there will be misses and the protectors help you get the most life out of your 2x4's.

AR 500 Hook

Waiting to mount these hooks to my 2x4, I like the design to just hang your target and shoot, planning to hit the range once weather clears.

These 2x4 mounts work great for portable target bases. Superb quality and fit a 2x4 perfectly.

2x4 AR500 Mounts

I bought these mounts for two specific reasons-their adjustability and durability. I recently purchased several steel plates to practice for Steel Challenge. These mounts are perfect b/c I don't have to precut my 2x4s and I can level the stage even when the stands are on uneven ground. The AR500 hook and hanger will likely last a long time. The shipping was also super fast and I placed my order online.

To help those who follow, I had purchased my steel plates from Shootsteel and my particular plates have a cross shaped hole that I was worried wouldn't work with these hangers. My concerns were misplaced as you only need to rotate the plate 45 degrees and the 3/8 in hanger hook fits perfectly through the hole and then hangs straight.

I would unhesitantly recommend these mounts to a friend.
